All employees and sub-contractors live within a 15 mile radius, and 70% live within a 5 mile radius.

We try to use natural light as much as is possible on our barns, therefore lowering the need for artificial light. As much as planning constraints will allow us with barn conversions, we try to incorporate roof light windows, large windows and bi-fold door systems into our homes

Materials such as masonry, brick and concrete create ‘thermal mass’ in a building which can absorb warmth from the sun’s rays (or other heat sources) during the day and release it into the home as external temperatures drop – helping to maintain a comfortable internal environment. For this reason, all our houses are built in a traditional Brick/block cavity method, with as little timber stud work as is practicable internally.

All properties have the benefit of Air Source Heat Pumps. No fossil fuels (oil or gas) are used for heat or hot water on the development – this all comes from taking heat out the air around us. Insulating a house is key to sustainability. New to market materials, such as Actis Hybris and H control are used throughout, with a low carbon footprint to manufacture and an excellent insulation rating.

All timber used on the project is FSC certified, from renewable sources. With the project being on a brownfield site (previously a farmstead) there is plenty of opportunity to recycle existing materials. All in situ concrete is carefully lifted and put through a concrete crusher, then reused as a sub-base for all hard landscaped areas, such as communal driveways and patio areas.

All mixed subsoil ( usually containing topsoil/subsoil/concrete) is put through a 3 way screener to separate individual materials. These materials are then tested for any contaminants and reused. The concrete is used as a sub base for hard landscaped areas and the topsoil used for soft landscaped areas. This all saves on having to import material from further afield.
